My husband and I went on a walking tour of this medieval/renaissance chateau in July 2011.  The tour was about 1 1/4 hours, cost 6 Euros each for an adult ticket and was available in English and/or French. The chateau overlooks the Lot River and French countryside and has a lot of history dating back to the 100 Years War and Wars of Religion which the guide reviews. The guide we had even made the tour interesting and entertaining for a four-year-old child who was in our group, aside from the adults.  

For tourists like us who are staying near St. Cirq Lapopie (a beautiful medieval hilltop village), this chateau and reasonable restaurant in the nearby town of Calvignac where we had lunch after our tour make a very enjoyable combination for a 1/2 day outing.

My husband and I ate in this charming, yet casual hilltop restaurant overlooking the picturesque Lot River, French countryside and the nearby historic Cenevieres Chateau in July 2011.  It is the only restaurant in the small village of Calvignac and is easily accessible on foot or by car (there is a free parking lot below the town).  My husband and I both had the Eco Menu for 12 Euros each which included a decent mixed salad with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, grated cheese, onions and olives, a crepe with grated cheese, tomatoes, parlsey and epaule (pork), fresh bread, a glass of wine and a scoop of ice cream for dessert.  The crepes were especially delicious.   If you are traveling in the area and want to have an enjoyable, good and affordable meal with a view, this is the place for you.
