Montal Castle is a National Monument of France.

The finesse of Italian architecture in the heart of the Lot valley. Built in 1523 by Jeanne de Balsac, in honour of her son, Robert de Montal, the Château de Montal echoes the finest châteaux in the Loire Valley. From 1879, it fell into decline with its finest pieces being acquired by museums and private collections throughout the world. Fortunately, the château was saved in 1908 thanks to the untiring efforts of Monsieur Fenaille who gradually restored the Chateau de Montal to its former splendours.

Opening times

January 2 to April 30 and from September 1 to 31st December: from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. May 2 to August 31: from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Last admission 45 min before closing time.

Other dates closed

Mondays and Tuesdays from January 2 to April 30 and from September 1 to December 31 Mondays from May 2 to June 30 January 1, May 1, November 1 and 11, December 25
